THOTH Thoth is the god of wisdom and magic, the master of hieroglyphs and the scribe of the gods. He registers their creations and decisions, giving them substance through speech and writing. He ushers the deceased into the court of Osiris and records the result of the weighing of the heart. The inspiration of all science, he is the patron of scribes. He also presides over the passing of time. As such, he is often shown wearing a lunar disc headdress, a reference to the phases of the moon that punctuate the nights.
